The Millennial Kingdom – the holy city and the residence of the church (Revelation 21v9-27, 22v1-5)

1. The angel’s promise (verse 9)

• The approach of the angel

4. The wall of the city (verse 12)

• Great and high – this is a walled city – stressing the security of the city – it is impenetrable to any malign influence.

5. The gates of the city (verses 12-13)

• The significance of gates – entrance and administration
• The number of the gates
• The names at the gates
• The distribution of the gates

6. The foundations of the wall (verse 14)

• The number of the foundations
• The names in the foundations

7. The measure of the city (verses 15-17)

• The geometry of the city
• The dimension of the city – 12,000 furlongs = 1,500 miles
• The measure of the walls

8. The materials of the city (verses 18-21)

• Wall – jasper
• City – pure gold
• Foundations – various gems stones
• Gates – pearl
• Street – pure gold

9. The temple of the city (verse 22)?

• There is no temple, as the city is the dwelling place of “the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb”

10. The light of the city (verse 23)

• No need for the sun and moon
• The glory of God lightens it
• The Lamb is the light of the city

11. The administration of the city (verses 24-26)

• The nations of the saved walk according to the light from the city
• Earth’s rulers bring their honour and glory to the city
• Gates remain open

12. The inhabitants of the city (verse 27)

• Nothing that defiles shall enter
• Neither anything abominable shall enter
• Nothing that makes a lie shall enter
• But, those written in the Lamb’s book of life

13. The river of the city (22 verse 1)

• The water of the river- water of life

14. The tree and the fruit (verse 2)

• The tree of life
• The fruit of the tree

15. The throne and the city (verse 3)

• The throne of God and of the Lamb is in the city

16. The lamb’s servants (verses 4-5)

• His servants shall serve Him – their occupation
• They shall see His face – their nearness
• His name on their foreheads – their conformity to the Lamb
• The Lord God giveth them light- their illumination
• They shall reign for ever and ever – their activity
