What we believe

What we believe

The following statement is intended as a summary of the principal doctrines and beliefs held by this assembly. It is not an exhaustive statement of all that we believe. We recognise the Holy Scriptures as the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice, and our beliefs are founded upon the teaching of the Word of God as a whole.

  1. The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, sufficient for faith and practice.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” (2 Timothy 3:16).
  2. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one.” (1 John 5:7 KJV).
  3. The Person of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and
    born of the virgin Mary.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14).
  4. Human Sinfulness
We believe that all people are sinners and are separated from God by sin.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).
  5. The Gospel
We believe that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the
    Scriptures.
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures… he was buried… he rose again the third day.”
    (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
  6. Salvation
We believe that salvation is by God’s grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, apart from
    works.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  7. The Holy Spirit
We believe that every believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit and called to live a holy life for God.
“Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you?” (1 Corinthians 6:19).
  8. Believers Baptism
We believe that baptism by immersion is an act of obedience for those who have trusted in Jesus
Christ, publicly identifying with His death, burial, and resurrection.
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death…” (Romans 6:4).
  9. The Lord’s Supper
We believe that believers should gather to remember the Lord Jesus Christ in the breaking of
bread, proclaiming His death until He comes again.
“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.” (1
    Corinthians 11:26).
  10. The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal
    blessing for the saved.
“And so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
    Motto Verse
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11)
